.TH WOL 8 .SH NAME wol \- send wake-on-lan Ethernet packet .SH SYNOPSIS .B ip/wol [ .B -v ] [ .B -a .I dialstr ] [ .B -c .I password ] .I macaddr .SH DESCRIPTION .I Wol sends a magic wake-on-lan Ethernet packet to .IR dialstr (default .BR udp!255.255.255.255!0 , the IPv4 broadcast address), intended to wake up the machine with an Ethernet interface with the MAC address .IR macaddr . .I Macaddr is not used to route the packet, but is inserted into the magic packet as required by the wake-on-lan protocol. .PP An optional .I password of at most six bytes can be sent.
